Students have access to Office for the Web. To access the this service use the GISD Office 365 link in Classlink
Or go to https://www.office.com/ and sign in with your GISD email. Or use the You can access this site from any Windows, Chromebook, or Mac computer.
You will then see the apps you have access to. Just click the app you want to use. Also note that on your own personal Windows or Mac computer you can Install Office on your computer using the Install Office link pictured in the upper right corner below.
Word, Excel, and Powerpoint online will look familiar and have almost all of the same features you are used to seeing. For example if you click Word you'll get the option to start a new blank document or use a template.
As you type your document it is automatically saved in your OneDrive. So you can take a break and come back later knowing your document is still there.
When you log back into https://www.office.com/ later it will show up just below your list of available apps. Recent items show up on this screen. Other older documents can be accessed by clicking the More in OneDrive link on the bottom right.
To save the document to your Google Drive use these steps:
Select Save As
You will get a popup letting you know it's ready to Download. Click the Download button.
To upload into Google Drive click the New button.
Then File upload
On a Windows computer the file should be in your Downloads folder. On a Chromebook the My files window will open. Select Downloads. You should see your document there. Select the file and click Open.
You will see the progress of the upload and when it has completed in the lower right.
